Allow Editing or Removing Blog Post Publish Date (SEO & Conversion Control)

Problem / Current Limitation
Currently, blog post publish dates are locked and cannot be edited or hidden once set. This limits flexibility in content optimization and negatively impacts link conversion and perceived content freshness.

From an SEO and CRO standpoint, visible publish dates can discourage clicks on otherwise evergreen or still relevant content simply because the date appears “old,” even when the information is accurate and valuable.

Requested Feature
Provide the ability to:

  • Edit the publish date of a blog post

  • Remove or hide the publish date from public view

  • Optionally display “Last Updated” instead of “Published On”

Expected Behavior

  • Admin users can modify the publish date field

  • Admin users can toggle date visibility on or off per post

  • Option to show “Last Updated” based on most recent edit instead of original publish date

  • Changes apply immediately to the front end and structured data (schema)

SEO & Business Impact

  • Improves link click through rates for evergreen content

  • Prevents valid content from appearing outdated

  • Increases organic performance on long tail keywords

  • Aligns with modern SEO best practices for content lifecycle management

  • Gives marketing full control over content presentation
