Request the ability to void or refund credit card transactions on the same day, prior to processor settlement, without incurring credit card processing fees.
Currently, once a credit card payment is captured in AIO, reversing the transaction results in a refund that includes non-recoverable processing fees. This creates unnecessary cost exposure in common operational scenarios such as duplicate charges, immediate order cancellations, pricing corrections, or customer-initiated changes shortly after payment.
Many leading payment processors support same-day void functionality that cancels the authorization or capture before settlement, eliminating processing fees entirely. For example, Authorize.net allows merchants to void transactions that have not yet been settled, effectively reversing the charge without any processor fees being applied. This is standard behavior across multiple gateways and is considered a baseline merchant-friendly feature.
Business Impact
Reduces avoidable processing fees on legitimate same-day reversals
Improves operational efficiency for customer support and accounting teams
Aligns AIO’s payment handling with industry-standard processor capabilities
Enhances merchant trust and cost transparency
Improves customer experience by enabling immediate, clean reversals
Proposed Behavior
If a credit card transaction has not yet settled, allow a “Void Transaction” action instead of a refund
Voided transactions should fully cancel the charge and avoid processor fees
Once settled, standard refund behavior would continue to apply
Industry Reference
Authorize.net supports same-day transaction voids prior to batch settlement, allowing merchants to cancel transactions without incurring processing fees. This functionality is widely adopted and expected in modern payment workflows.
