🐞 Problem:
When users navigate to Integrations → DMI and enter their Dealer Code and Rest Code to link to the DMI API, the system currently provides no response or error message if those credentials are incorrect. The page accepts the input, displays it as though it were correct, and does not notify users—or us—that the connection failed.
⚠️ Why is this a problem:
Users believe they are successfully linked to DMI when they are not. Data not represented accurately.
It causes confusion and delays in troubleshooting when integrations fail.
Incorrect credentials can go unnoticed, resulting in missing data and incomplete API connections.
✅ Solution:
Implement a response validation system that triggers when credentials are submitted.
Display an error message if either code is incorrect.
Clearly specify which code (Dealer Code or Rest Code) is invalid.
Add a red flag or warning alert in the Integrations area if the credentials are ever changed.
The alert should read something like:
“Your DMI credentials have been modified. Please verify your Dealer Code and Rest Code to ensure your DMI API connection remains active.”
Ensure this validation occurs both on initial entry and any time credentials are edited.
